How to get stronger just by sitting on your couch

What if I told you that you can strengthen your muscles by sitting on your couch, without moving an inch. This is crazy but this is possible and scientifically proven.

I recently came across this possibility and it was quite overwhelming. Take a look at it for yourself.

Scientific Research

A study conducted by Brian Clark at Ohio University shows that just visualising exercise could make us stronger. Clark and team involved handful number of volunteers and wrapped their wrists in surgical casts so that their wrist can not be moved to avoid any physical exercise. Clark split the group into two

  1. Just do regular day today activities
  2. Specially perform Visualisation exercise

Volunteers from Group 2 performed this visualisation exercise for 11 minutes a day and 5 days a week. At the end of the research, Clark observed that Group 2 members had two times stronger muscles than Group 1.

Another research conducted by Kai Miller at University of Washington showed that thinking exercise matches the real exercise interms of brain activity. Both activated similar areas in the brain and thus the impact is similar.

There are few more such researches and they indicate and prove that we can become stronger just by training our mind.

Isn’t this fascinating? But then I started to be the devils advocate and thought about what really happened in the experiment and the science behind it
